Brenda Betancourt on finding community and support as a graduate student

Brenda Betancourt graduated with her Ph.D. in applied mathematics and statistics. Her research at UC Santa Cruz was focused on models for network data using Bayesian statistics. After UCSC, she continued working on Bayesian methods applied to networks, entity resolution and other applications that include official statistics, health and human rights. In August of 2021, she started an Assistant Professor position at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
